Over the summer, you may be updating your module’s ‘virtual learning environment’ in readiness for the new academic year.  If you are looking for inspiration, there is plenty on offer from this year’s Blackboard & VLE Awards.

There has been a lot of interest in exploring the winning sites, so we have created a Blackboard site where you can have a closer look at some of the content from this year’s shortlisted and winning courses.  The features highlighted are all taken from students’ feedback about what has made a real difference to their learning and enhanced their experience.

Of course there is no “one size fits all”; you know your module and your students best.  Amongst the many excellent examples you should find ideas that will work for your course, but there is no need to include everything suggested.  Courses that work well tend to feel uncluttered, with well-chosen content and activities creating a coherent whole.

Previously, we’ve run workshops in which colleagues in your faculty explain what works well in their courses.  We hope to do so again, so look out for further details.

More information about the Blackboard & VLE Awards is available on the new Digital Learning website, and further details of this year’s and previous awards events are here.
