Postcard from South Africa #4.

Wednesday 6th May. Today we make the long drive from the border down to the south of Kruger and sadly neither Clare nor I are able to share in the driving so it is all on poor Johan, but he is very laid back about it all. As you’ll expect from me by now, the prospect of a long drive across South Africa is something I am looking forward to. But first a real treat. Postcard from South Africa #3

Tuesday 5th May. We were supposed to have an early start this morning so we could make good time as we head north for the border – guess who blew it! Yup yours truly set the alarm wrong. A timely call from Clare who couldn’t quite hold back the giggling got me out of bed and off to breakfast in a hurry. Johan bundled me and my stuff into the bus and off we went. Once again the drive was an instruction as Johan filled in all the gaps in the landscape with stories and titbits of local history. Continue reading →

Thank you to everyone who participated in PGRAS 2012!

Well, it’s over. Thanks to all of our presenters, symposium organizers, volunteers and faculty members for making this year’s symposium a huge success. We saw a a lot of exciting new research from our colleagues, received feedback from a broader audience than we often receive, and had a great time doing it. Hi Folks, Today marks the start of our two day symposium! We have been hard at work preparing everything and we hope you all enjoy it. Remember to keep them no longer than 15 minutes as we are quite short on time. Photo contest deadline is today!!!

[flickr-gallery] Today is the final day for submissions of your photos for the contest to be held during the symposium! We have received quite a few today, but more would always be better! Just send the images to our email, pgrsymposium@gmail.com Early next week we will have them printed and on display in the main archaeology building, and a vote will be held during the symposium on the 24th and 25th.
