Background Reading – The 1964 Excavation Report

We thought that we would share the report of the excavation that we are revisiting this summer.

Hampshire Field Club Report

This is the 1964 report of the excavation from the 1960s that was published in the Hampshire Field Club’s proceedings: Combley_1964_BasingHouse (a very large PDF – 11MB).

If you are an undergraduate student attending the Basing House excavation, you have been asked to read this report as it is an excellent summary of the work that was carried out by the Aldermaston Archaeological Society in 1960s.

Our Excavation Plans

Students should also read the following post: Our 1960s excavation

This post is an introduction to the Aldermaston Archaeological Society’s work, and our own plans for the summer.
