The Portus MOOC and Southampton Alumni

Portus Field School team 2013 (on flickr) I am very keen that the Portus MOOC engages with University of Southampton alumni. In part I hope that this is a way to say thank you for their input to the University, both as students and more recently, by providing a free way for them to continue learning with us. As large-scale data processing becomes easier and more affordable to everyone, so too increases the temptation to try and use new technologies and methods to reduce the amount of manual labor that usually comes with classifying and categorising big data collections. Call for papers 2014 now open

The call for papers for the Postgraduate Archaeology Symposium 2014 is now open! For details of how to submit your abstract, please follow this link  http://pgras.soton.ac.uk/pgras-2014-3/call-papers-2014/. It’s compulsory for all 1st, 2nd and 3rd year PhD students to present at the symposium (part time students present every other year). Please note that the deadline for abstracts is the 28th April.
