Students learning about prehistoric textiles

On Thursday 6th November, first year undergraduate students studying Archaeological Science and Materials had the opportunity to learn about prehistoric textiles. Karina Grömer from the Natural History Museum, Vienna – a leading researcher in archaeological textiles – was visiting the Department and kindly brought with her samples of reproduction textiles and costumes. The students carried out a practical during which they learned how to record archaeological textiles and also had some fun trying on the costumes!
