I think it would be more informative to ask people:
- whether they or their loved ones have any (a) mild, (b) moderate, or (c) grave illnesses
- whether they or their loved ones do not have enough to eat for the foreseeable future
- whether they or their loved ones do not have a place to live for the foreseeable future
- whether they or their loved ones are not free, or in danger of harm
If their reply to 1-4 is no, then they should forget the 10-point Hygge ladder and count themselves as happy (and consider helping those sentient beings whose reply to 1-4 is not no).
