Our social network application provides four main features:
- Contacting a local counsellor
- Information on mental health topics
- Instant messaging
- Forum chats
The Story of Us is an application that supports its users’ during the bereavement process. Therefore, it is crucial to have a robust system that protects the anonymity of its users at all times. Information about the user such as the user’s identity is hidden. During the registration process the user is asked to provide an email address and their real name, however just for verification and to ensure that only human’s create new accounts. The username can be hidden in the user menu option. Such users are displayed as “User123”. Users can log in to the network by typing in either username or email with the corresponding password. The system is developed in a manner that can identify users only through their username. The counsellor can access certain information such as name and location if the user has agreed to this prior.
K- Anonymity is used in this application as it allows users to personalize their application without the risking to compromise the users’ privacy. Better services can be provided through Personalization of the app.
