Data Protection“The Story of Us” will include a privacy policy; an agreement required by law between us and our users, which will detail how we will be handling any of their personal data. As our application will not require any billing or shipping addresses, or credit/debit card information, the main privacy concerns will feature around our users’ first and last names, email addresses, and the option to provide their birth dates. The privacy policy will describe the type of data we are collecting, the ways in which we will collect this data, as well as our use of cookies and the assurance that we will not be sharing any personal data with third parties. Moreover, this privacy policy will describe how we will be protecting personal data, and it will outline the remedies available if there were a security breach, including any notification procedures.
By outlining the specific personal information this application will be requiring and describing the ways in which we propose to use it, potential users will be able to make an informed decision as to whether or not the risks of sharing their information are worth the benefits of them using our application. Additionally, having well-defined terms and conditions embedded within our privacy policy will mean that our users cannot claim any of their personal information has been used without their consent.
The best way for us to ensure the acceptance of our privacy policy is through the use of clickwrap, which is often considered the most effective and active approach. The use of clickwrap will give our users the chance to review the privacy policy, when they sign up and accept the agreement by ticking the checkbox, containing a link to our privacy policy.
