Conducting a survey for MeetingOfMinds

The Goal of Survey:

We have decided to establish the survey as a gathering tool mainly to know more from our potential users, what they expect to see in the application and whether this application would be useful for them or not. In other words, is MeetingOfMinds something users really want. We believe that this way will help us in building a successful application. In addition, this survey aims to assess the importance of the issue which we are going to solve it in the MeetingOfMinds. Therefore, it highlights the aspects that we have to focus on them more and the areas of design that we need to take care about it to deliver what users really want.

Persona’s: Different Users of “MeetingOfMinds”

The following three personas of MeetingOfMinds platform have been introduced and defined here and they will be used in our scenarios posts.  We have considered that our users are either post-graduate student or professors at the University of Southampton. We described the academic interests, learning and research style and supervision style for each persona. Also, we have described that each user fit in which position of Rogers adoption curve      ( as covered in the Social Enterprise lecture ). In addition, we specified the ‘type of user’ by describing the main goal of each persona from using MeetingOfMinds, we take benefits from the Flickr diagram discussed in the the Social Enterprise lecture to design each type which also covered in our earlier post ( please click here to view it ) in the Social Network section when we talked about how our project being a social network.

In the recent years, the marketing games have changed as well as customer behaviours. These are the result of the invention of the wireless internet, smartphone and social media. Since social media has become popular, many enterprises use it as a tool to broadcast, advertise and promote their products. This conducts to the high level of competition among start-ups and large brands. This competition is not only effect brands provided products or services, yet also affect software developers. Many new developers launch new sites or applications every single day; there are a variety of social media platforms that users can choose what they would like to use, share their thought and spend time on.
