Our 4-year study is structured into five work packages delivered across three phases

• phase 1 (2024-2025) includes in-depth research on current MPDSR practices, and developing tools to address the main barriers to MPDSR implementation.
• in phase 2, each country team will create an “intervention package” based on the tools we developed.
• phase 3 (2026-2028) tests the effectiveness of the package and introduces it into three districts in each country, starting at different times.

We will count deaths of women and babies before and during implementation. If this approach reduces deaths, and is cost-effective, countries will be supported to scale it up. Our materials will be made available online. This will help to reduce preventable deaths and improve quality of care for women and their babies.
