The “You” Journey

Last year, our Library Ignite Intern Katie Walker created The “You” Journey; an online exhibition offering an introduction to the Library from a student’s perspective. 

Welcome to the University of Southampton! An extraordinary place to be, full of brimming possibility and diversity.  My name is Katie, I study Textile Design at Winchester School of Art campus, I am neurodivergent and a mature student. The opportunity to provide this online exhibition and a display in Hartley Library came through my Ignite Internship. I hope this exhibition encourages you to explore the Library, and that it gives helpful tips and recommendations from one student to all students, starting their academic journey.

Starting University is and can be the most daunting feeling no matter who you are. I created this guide to help you get the most valuable information that has helped me, in case anything gets missed while you start getting to know new people, university life and chosen degree subject.

Each section of this exhibition includes a list of recommended books, which I’ve found by using the library catalogue Library Search, and by using a variety of search strategies.
