This is a website which provides a series of services, however, there are no interactive social functions. There is some degree of personalisation, however, it fits firmly within the FA branding template.

The Functions it provides are as follows:

The Essentials

  • Easy set-up of seasons, divisions, clubs, teams and venues
  • Instant creation of your league website, linked to TheFA.com
  • Site design – choose your colour scheme, add your league logo and sponsor details
  • Fixture creation, whether manually or using the various automated routines
  • The immediate input of results
  • Addition of other league administrators, to help share the workload.

Basic Options

  • Adding referees and recording referee appointments and marks online
  • Allowing clubs to report scorelines live by SMS Text Message
  • FULL-TIME microsite – access to fixtures, results and tables from mobile phones
  • Allow clubs access to register match details, including team-sheets, scorers and marks
  • Player registration and transfers
  • League Cup competitions
  • Notices and news items
  • Auto-generated e-mails notifying clubs, referees and officers of fixture/referee changes.

Advanced Options

  • Team Logos
  • Photo albums (Cup Finals, presentations)
  • Allowing clubs (or players) to request player registration
  • Setting age restrictions for players in divisions (youth and veteran’s football)
  • Tracking of suspensions and checking for violations
  • Downloading information to spreadsheets
  • ‘Code snippets’ to allow clubs to display tables and results within their own websites
  • Match reports and league newsletters.

FULL-TIME provides interactive features for administrators of each league, however, there is little social interaction within the community.

Before we started designing SoccerNet, we first investigated and analyzed some existing sports social networking sites in the market. We found the following sports social platforms:

PitchHero

Spond is also a digital sports platform to organize football, rugby, cycling, cricket or other group activities for either children or adults. It’s can invite people to events, write posts and share pictures.

Teamstuff is  a web and mobile app solution to manage  sports team. Teamstuff is for the player/coach/manager/parent on the go,  giving you the information you need – where and when you need it.

All star cricket is a nationwide, fun, skills based, cricket programme for boys and girls aged five to eight.

SportSocial

SportSocial is a digital sport community involved various of sports, and users could make post and comment to each other. It’s kind of like Sport version Twitter.

According to all tools above, we didn’t find any existing tool only focus on local football community. Most platforms are concentrated on various type of sports. Some of them are only focus on children in cricket. Therefore, we believe in the market would definitely need a professional digital platform for local football fans and to promote football value.  And  SoccerNet is on the way!!!
