Researchers at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre (MRC LEC) received Certificates of Excellence for the quality of their oral presentations at the 2023 Faculty of Medicine Research Conference.

Dr Leo Westbury presented research highlighting the increased risk of incident fracture for women in the Hertfordshire Cohort Study who were not in relationships, in comparison to their married/cohabiting counterparts. Dr Roshan Rambukwella provided an overview of the most common types of hospital admission and their risk factors in this same cohort with the use of a lay infographic. Dr Elena Zaballa presented research examining risk of undergoing revision surgery after total hip arthroplasty according to post-operative physical activity levels.

Professor Nick Harvey, Director of the University of Southampton’s MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre, congratulated the award winners, commenting:
