Xiamen Campuses
Xiamen University (XMU) was founded in 1921 by Chinese businessman Mr. Tan Kah Kee. The main campus is nestled between the green hills of the Wanshi Botanical Gardens and the blue seas of the Xiamen Waterway, XMU is famous for being China’s “most beautiful university”. It has excellent education facilities and a beautiful environment; it is even considered a popular destination for many domestic tourists.
XMU is increasingly becoming an internationally acclaimed world-class university. It has a graduate school, 28 schools and colleges, and 14 research institutes. XMU attracts nearly 40,000 full-time students, roughly half of which are undergraduates and half are postgraduates. As for the academic staff, XMU employs over 2,600 full-time teachers and researchers, of whom 22 are members of the prestigious Chinese Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Xiamen University is currently comprised of four campuses:
Siming campus – the main campus hub that includes the economics department that will be frequented during the summer school.
Zhangzhou campus – includes the founding Tan Kah Kee (TKK) college and is a hub for technology.
Xiang’an campus – includes the medicine and life sciences divisions. The global Confucius Institute also has a large presence here!
Malaysia campus – the newest of Xiamen University’s four campuses. It is located only 10 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
