Tan Kah Kee College

Xiamen University was founded in 1921 by Mr. Tan Kah Kee, a well-known overseas Chinese leader. With the approval of the ministry of Education, Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College (TKK) was established jointly by Xiamen University and Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Educational Development Co. in 2003.

Comparing with Xiamen University, TKK has a greener campus because it is surrounded by mountains. With the advantage of more open spaces, a golf court is built so that students could relax alongside their studies. Nonetheless, there is an egg-shaped stage that floats on water; it is used for the purpose of holding large events such as concerts and music festival.

With the concern of sustainability, TKK encourages students to ride a bike rather than to drive. There is no fee to use the bicycles in campus; all of them are second-handed or unused.

In addition, students in Xiamen University and TKK College are guaranteed a place for living. The library at TKK is very nice; models made by engineering students are exhibited as decorations for the library. It is interesting to note how quiet the library is, and that applies to the entrance as well. Also, students who are doing a master degree can apply for a specific place in the library for the whole semester.
