Zengcuoan Visit

Zengcuoan, a former fishing settlement, provided us with a unique outdoor shopping experience aimed at both locals and tourists. The small streets were filled with the beautiful smells of the different types of food, varying from the strong aroma of meat to a soft smell of baked goods. The fragrant smell of tea leaves was delightful as we walked by the tea shops – a very good tactic to entice us into the shops!

It was very interesting to see the different types of shops and, although it was crowded, it gave us an insight into everyday life in this village and how it has evolved over the years. Not only was the number of pearl shops shocking but the prices of the pearl bracelets and necklaces were unbelievably low… so amazing that we ended up buying more than four items each!
