Subsystem overview

The main mechanism in the spacecraft is the Antenna deployment mechanism. The mechanism is similar to that flown successfully on the Xatcobeo CubeSat.

Deployed antenna

The system holds the antenna in their launch/stored positions under the tension of a nylon thread passed over a resistor. When deployment is required a resistor burns through the nylons wire. The antenna are sprung and deploy by themselves once the retaining wire has been severed.
