Lesson G: March of the Polar Bears

This lesson covers the adaptations of Polar Bears to their environment and the threats they face as a result of global warming. Students will also track an individual Polar Bear using the Polar Bear International Bear Tracker and present their findings to the class.

You will need:

  • Lesson plan
  • Teacher presentation (main or higher)
  • Computer access
  • Student research worksheets; either paper copies to write on or a Powerpoint file to edit
  • Student help sheets for Bear Tracker (main or higher)

All of the presentations and files can be downloaded here. The student area of this website contains information about using the Polar Bear Tracker if they wish to do this as independent study, as well as an interesting diagram that highlights key adaptations of polar bears.
