Hello! My name is Sharon Chow and I am a first-year student in the JD Accelerated LLB program.  I am an international student from Canada, Toronto to be precise.

I completed my MA in Political Science with a specialization in International Treaties and Law. My goal is to be a corporate and employment lawyer in Canada. Prior to applying to Southampton for the JD program, I was a paralegal, and my main area of work was in subrogation. I decided to apply for the CHEP Student Lead Role as I thought it would be interesting to learn how my experiences as a student can help improve the experiences for both current and future students of Southampton. In my spare time, you’ll find me around town looking for new restaurants to try and taking photos of my food.”

Update July 2022: Applying and then being given the opportunity to work as an intern with CHEP was an absolute blessing. Through CHEP, I have met wonderful, dedicated and extremely passionate professors who are adamant to make a difference in this world. CHEP heavily focuses on Peer-to-Peer interactions and the importance of connecting with students so that both the mentor and the mentored excel.

I had the opportunity to work in the Peer-to-Peer work stream in which we focused on the aspects of how the University of Southampton compares to other institutions when it comes to creating a more welcoming peer-to-peer environment. I was given the task of looking at the world’s most highly ranked institutions and their take on peer-to-peer for their faculty members and students.

Being an international student, I can guarantee you that my university did not focus on peer-to-peer interactions as much as Southampton does. Through my research, there have been many studies completed that prove peer-to-peer to be a crucial link toward student success. By understanding through feedback and continuous communication with and from students, is the only way for institutions to continue striving for perfection.
