Hello! I’m Rebecca, a second year Geography student, with a love of giraffes.

I enjoy several societies, from ballroom and latin dance and brass band to folk music and netball and was part of the national advisory board for re-writing the QAA Geography benchmark statement this year.

I have a deep interest in supporting inclusive learning at all levels: I have previously helped in primary and secondary level education and was recently part of a Student Innovation Project that created a framework for a New Forest boarding school to become carbon neutral – with a focus on creating more sustainable habits and mindsets throughout the school community.

I look forward to developing these experiences for the university by supporting students and staff, through working with the incredible team at CHEP!”

Update July 2022: I’ve been thrilled to take part on multiple workstreams, taking on work that interests me the most and where I think I can have the most impact. I have helped create materials for the Education for All workstream based on background research that has really helped me develop my knowledge and experience of inclusive practice. This has also helped me be more considerate of how disabilities can impact how students learn and to create resources that support everyone. I’m additionally excited to be taking on some thematic analysis of the Blackboard VLE award nominations for the Mental Health Charter as this is a new technique for me that I’m enjoying developing.

Other workstreams I am contributing to include Personalised Learning, where I looked at national and global examples of how learning analytics and artificial intelligence can be used within universities to increase student engagement; and some work for the Library assessing our current library system and the systems of other universities. This has been good experience in understanding different learning platforms and webpage design, and communicating and using information effectively which will be helpful as I continue to consider how I can present information in the best way.

Working within CHEP has been an absolute pleasure, and I’m excited to be continuing this work and developing more skills over summer. I can’t wait to see how the work we have done is directly relevant to student and staff experience at the university and watch the beginnings of its implementation over the coming year.
