Theano is delighted to announce that, for the first time, the IEEE WIE ILS will be held in the UK, from the 13th to the 15th of August 2018. Big congratulations to the Southampton Team for winning the bid to host IEEE Women In Engineering (WIE) International Leadership Summit 2018! On an international level, the summit offers a rich community that provides professional development for female students in all disciplines. The summit will be hosted by the University of Southampton, which is one of the most lively and dynamic cities in the south of England.
IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is one of the largest international Professional organisations dedicated to promoting women in Engineering, Science and Technology and inspiring girls around the world to achieve rewarding careers in engineering. The IEEE WIE International Leadership Summit has a track record of bringing together up to 200 female researchers, scientists, trainees, and students. The 2018 IEEE WIE International Leadership Summit (ILS) will empower women to choose their own career path and facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines.
Building on previous themes, the IEEE WIE ILS summit 2018 is a three-day event that focuses on how to achieve inclusivity in diversity. It is designed in partnership with industry for those who are interested in the impact of lack of gender, ethnic and racial diversity on the profitability and success of organisations. The programme will begin on the 13th of August with a career fair for women. This pre-summit event is designed to complement the theme of this year’s summit and allow you to meet recruiters in a dynamic setting.
The summit will officially begin with a grand opening gala dinner where you can meet some of our sponsors. Over the course of the three days, we will hear from senior female leaders about their approaches to engaging with the wider community and achieving their ultimate goals by overcoming challenges. The closing ceremony on the 15th of August will give speakers from both academia and industry the opportunity to share with the audience their views about the importance of diversity in the workplace and how to foster inclusion.
