First you will need to setup a MathWorks account. Go to the MathWorks web site and sign up with your soton email (eg xyz@soton.ac.uk). Then, you will have to associate your account with the matlab licence, for the activation code please go to www.software.soton.ac.uk to retrieve it.
After setting up your account all you need to run is the command:
$ sudo /usr/local/MATLAB/RXXXx/bin/activate_matlab.sh
and just input your mathworks credential.
