Little did I know what was to come when I was appointed as Associate Dean for Education in January of this year!

These are very difficult and perilous times, but I have been overwhelmed by the positive response from staff and students. Everyone has worked extremely hard to get the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes back on the road.

Students are now “back” and engaging with the resources online. I am delighted that we managed to graduate our final year students early some of whom have already joined the workforce. I believe that the relationship between the University and the NHS has been strengthened as a result of the students’ response to the pandemic.

We are constantly told that this is a marathon and not a sprint. We have much to do to prepare for the next academic year which will look very different, but I am confident that staff and students will work together to make this the best quality experience that it can be under the circumstances.
