The majority of problems reported with CLS equipment are about not being able to display a video source or not being able to hear sound. For example, a tutor may be using a laptop to show a YouTube video, and although they can see it they can’t hear it.
You can call ServiceLine on x25656 using the phone in the room for advice, and they may send a technician to assist you, but there are some simple things you can check yourself to fix the problem quickly.
Display
- Have you selected the correct video source (PC, laptop, DVD etc.) using the control panel?
- Did you press Hide picture on the touch-screen control panel? If so, press Show picture.
- Is the data projector or flat-panel display switched on? In some smaller CLS rooms with ceiling-mounted projectors, you can reach up and press its ON button if necessary.
Laptop video
- Are the video and audio cables securely plugged in?
- Have you extended or duplicated its display? See Connecting a laptop for details.
- Have you checked its display settings? See Data projectors and flat-panel displays for details.
Audio
- Is the volume on the PC or laptop turned up? Have you selected the correct audio output? See Connecting a laptop for details.
- Is the volume on the room’s control panel turned up?
- Did you press Silence sound on the touch-screen control panel? If so, press Activate sound
- If you are using HDMI, try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable, making sure that it is securely plugged in. Check that you have selected the correct audio output.
