Speakers

All CLS rooms have speakers which are used with a ‘gooseneck’ microphone or wireless xTag microphone to enhance your voice. There are no volume controls since the level is pre-set.

The speakers are also used for sound from the bench PC, DVD player, a laptop or other connected device. You can control the volume of these sources using the touch-screen control panel or button control panel.

Touch-screen control panel

  • Use the control panel to select the source (e.g. laptop) and check that students can see its video output.
  • Tap the up/down buttons to raise/lower the volume
  • Tap the central button to mute/in-mute the audio

Button control panel

  • Use the control panel to select the source (e.g. laptop) and check that students can see its video output
  • Some control panels have volume buttons while others have a rotary control.
  • Tap the up/down buttons OR rotate the control to raise/lower the volume

Troubleshooting

  • Note that for PCs, laptops and other devices, the volume is also controlled by the playback volume selected using its software. If you can’t hear anything, check that the sound has not been muted on the touch-screen control panel and the computer’s audio controls. See also the troubleshooting advice.

Note the laptop volume controls on the right of the touch-screen control panel:

Some button control panels use up/down buttons to control volume; this one has a rotary control:
