Wireless xTag microphones

Some larger CLS teaching spaces have wireless microphones (revolabs xTag) that are used to enhance your voice without restricting your freedom to move around the room. There are no volume controls since the level is pre-set.

  • Remove the microphone from its charging station on the lectern bench.
  • The LED light on both the microphone and charging station will double-flash RED to confirm that they are connected and that the microphone is muted.
  • Clip the microphone to your clothing so its top (with the LED) is pointing upwards, ideally about 15-30cm from your mouth.
  • Alternatively use its Velcro-fastening lanyard to hang it around your neck.
  • Press the button on the front of the microphone or the button on the charging station to un-mute the microphone and begin your lecture. The LED on both the microphone and charging station will flash GREEN to confirm that they are connected and working.
  • Press either button at any time to mute or un-mute the microphone. Remember, double-flash RED means muted, flashing GREEN means working.
  • Please replace the microphone firmly in its charging station when you have finished.
  • If you accidentally leave the room with the microphone it will beep every 30 seconds to remind you to return it!

Most of these microphones are connected to Panopto lecture capture, but you should confirm this by checking the volume level in Panopto when you speak. If it isn’t connected, then the bench microphone is used for Panopto audio.
