Stand up for Science! Talk to your MP!
Jessica Teeling travelled to London earlier this week to meet local MP Caroline Noakes at Portcullis House in Westminster. She was invited to join the Royal Society’s ‘Assessing the evidence: scientist in Westminster reception’ which is part of their annual paring scheme. Although not paired with an MP this year, this reception provided a great opportunity to meet scientist in technology, engineering, medicine and mathematics (STEMM) disciplines and listen from speeches from Sir Venki Ramakrishnan (PRS), Jo Johnson MP, Stephen Metcalf MP, Madeleine Moon and Professor Brian Cox. It was agreed that communication between scientist and policy makers is vital for the UK!
