PLEASE ADDRESS THE CONFERENCE THEME BELOW WHEN WRITING YOUR ABSTRACT:

Education 4.0 revolution: transformative approaches to language teaching and learning, assessment and campus design

It was at the Universities UK (UUK) conference in 2018, that JISC introduced the Education 4.0 concept. The e-Learning Symposium 2020 aims to engage language practitioners and colleagues from related disciplines, with this new concept.  Using the new scenario created by the industrial revolution 4.0 the conference intends to highlight, discuss and disseminate good practices for new trends and technologies in education in response to changing educational settings.

What are the needs of tomorrow’s language educators and learners and how are Universities getting ready to face the challenges of such a fast-paced revolution?

We are looking forward to receiving proposal for:

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Presentations (20 mins + 5 mins for questions) should describe and evaluate an innovative use of technology with students in higher education and other sectors. Our focus is language teaching; however, we also welcome proposals related to other disciplines, if the ideas can be generally applied cross-discipline.

This might include examples of student engagement for academic purposes with virtual worlds, social networking websites, open educational resources or other Web 2.0 tools; use of innovative learning designs or creative e-learning environments and methods.

POSTERS

Posters should present work on a particular project or topic. They should summarise the key points and give enough appropriate information for the topic/project to be understood in 5-15 minutes. They should be visually interesting and designed to provoke informal discussion of the topic/project amongst colleagues.

WORKSHOPS

Workshops are 45 minutes and typically involve a hands-on session, where participants have the opportunity to become familiar with the latest developments in relevant topic areas in language teaching and learning and tools associated with these. We particularly welcome workshop proposals addressing the conference theme from theoretical and/or practical perspectives. The proposal should include the intended duration of the workshop, its main purpose, and a brief outline of topics and activities covered as well as technical requirements.
