A rhyme for the typical timetable for the Careers Fair Coordinator on the day of a Fair
.00 – The early bird catches the worm… Today is the Careers Fair so we actually woke up before the sun. I know that it will be a long day, but also a lot of fun.
.15 – Now all of the Student Ambassadors are here, we can start to set up. No time for stopping but if there’s tea going then please pass me a cup!
.00 – The exhibitors are starting to arrive so we show them to their stand, only three hours to go until the students start to land.
.30 – The Networking Breakfast has just started, which is open to exhibitors and staff. With free food on offer, if you don’t come you’re really having the last laugh.
.15 – All of the pastries have now been eaten and it’s time to do a health and safety check. Are there any hazards? We don’t want anyone falling and breaking their neck.
.00 – The Fair has now opened and there is a queue of students waiting at the door. They’ve caught sight of the 61 companies with banners from the ceiling to the floor.
.00 – Lunch time now and it’s gotten so busy that we need to stop the queue for a while. This is made easier with the students waiting patiently in a single file.
.00 – Exhibitor CV Clinics are running smoothly and the LinkedIn Lab is extremely busy. The ambassadors are working hard and I call “have some water!” to stop them feeling dizzy.
.00 – The doors are now closing and the Fair has ended. I am smiling because the exhibitors’ feedback shows they got out of it what they intended.
.30 – The room has now been cleared and I appreciate the help from everyone. “home time!” I say to the ambassadors, “thank you, now go and have some fun.”
