5. Introduction to Photogrammetry/Aerial Photo

This is the fifth unit in the module ‘Topographic Data Analysis Techniques and Applications’. This unit introduces photogrammetry and aerial photo interpretation.

  1. Introduction to Photogrammetry
  2. Getting ready for 3D World
  3. Aerial Photo Interpretation

‘Introduction to Photogrammetry’ introduces the basic priniciples of photgrammetry and types of aerial photograph, including view angles.

‘Getting ready for 3D World’ introduces key characteristics of the photogrammetry system, such as scale, 3D vision and the way in which the human brain can interpret pairs of images in order to recreate a 3D space. The learning object includes a 3D vision test image for use with anaglyph glasses.

‘Aerial Photo Interpretation’ describes the essential elements of images which can be combined in order to allow the interpreter to extract information about the objects and features on the ground surface.
