When you sign up as a Neighbourhood user, the following details will be stored about you. A core aspect of Neighbourhood is protecting user privacy, and allowing users to divulge their real names to one another, only when they feel comfortable.

Account

  • Username (pseudonym): A name you will be known by on the system. Searchable by others within Neighbourhood. We encourage the use of pseudonyms to protect user privacy.
  • Real name: You may reveal your real name to other individual Neighbourhood users, groups, and activities (events) you have joined, at your discretion. You can change your settings at any time.
  • Avatar: Choose from our selection of avatars (cartoon pictures to represent your image on Neighbourhood). Our use of avatars is part of Neighbourhood’s dedicated policy of privacy by design.
  • Location(s): Locations you are interested in, usually to include the area you live. A location will usually be a set of several postcodes or a radius around a postcode. We do not need or store your home address (again to help protect privacy).
  • Interests: Tags of the interests you have, for example chess, skiing, salsa dancing, football, jogging.
  • Activities: Your upcoming activities – activities are events that happen at a moment in time, or on a recurring basis. Members that are signed up to an activity will receive communications about it from the activity leader and its activity group chat. After the time of an event has passed, it will be archived. You can leave an activity at any time and remove any content or data you have added to it (text, photos, videos).
  • Subhoods: Groups you are a part of. Members that are signed up to a subhood will receive communications about it from the leader and its group chat. You can leave a subhood at any time and remove any content or data you have added to it (text, photos, videos).
  • Friends: Individuals you connect to on Neighbourhood. You can decide whether or not to reveal your real name to your friend. Friends can message one another using private group chat. (Neighbourhood will use data about these friend connections to calculate the ‘betweenness centrality’ of users for targeted marketing).
  • Rewards: Your reward points, earned for making purchases at Neighbourhood partner events, restaurants, leisure activities and shops. Find out more about Neighbourhood reward points here.
  • Reviews: Reviews you have posted about Neighbourhood partner events, restaurants, leisure activities and shops. Posting reviews earns reward points.
