HEAF data presented at the British Society for Rheumatology Annual Conference

Today Professor Karen Walker-Bone presented a poster from the HEAF study to the British Society for Rheumatology Annual Conference in Liverpool.

The poster looked at the relationship between pain and health-related job loss in the HEAF Cohort. Over 20% of the HEAF cohort who were in employment reported pain at one or more sites. The data suggests that musculoskeletal pain at 2 or more sites doubles the risk of stopping work within the next 12 months.

As more HEAF data becomes available, we hope to expand upon these analyses to establish the possible causes of different types of job loss amongst older workers.
