UK Quality Code for Higher Education 2024 – the cornerstone for quality and standards in UK higher education.  The Code is used by UK higher education providers to ensure they are achieving the outcomes expected of them.

It presents a series of reference points to help providers offer their students a high-quality experience and is the definitive reference point for all those involved in delivering higher education which leads to an award from or is validated by a UK higher education provider.

While the Quality Code does not represent regulatory requirements for institutions based in England, those providers can choose to use the Code to satisfy themselves that their quality processes support enhancement above the baseline.

In line with Principle 1 of the Sector-Agreed Principles, the University considers External expertise as a key element of the strategic approach to managing quality and standards.

In line with Principle 5 we regularly monitor and review our provision to secure academic standards and enhance quality. Deliberate steps are taken to engage with and incorporate the views of external experts (via external examiners and other external stakeholders) as part of the wider quality monitoring and evaluation framework.

The Qualifications Frameworks set out the different levels of higher education qualifications and the requirements for each of these.

The Master’s Degree Characteristics Statement – describes the distinctive features of master’s degrees in the UK

Subject Benchmark Statements – describe the nature of study and the academic standards expected of graduates in specific subject areas. They show what graduates might reasonably be expected to know, do and understand at the end of their studies.
