Reporting for 2023/24 academic year
The 2023/24 template for reporting is available as a download here.
The process for submitting and responding to external examiner reports remains unchanged and is set out below. We look forward to receiving your report by email to eesoton@soton.ac.uk as soon after the Board of Examiners as possible, normally within 4 weeks of the meeting.
External examiner reports provide the University with an independent peer view of the standards set for and achieved by students, the soundness of the assessment process and opportunities for education enhancement. In the report we ask external examiners to answer specific questions and make comment on:
- appropriateness of standards set
- comparability of student performance
- assessment processes
- student performance
- strengths and innovative features
- the information made available to you
- enhancements to the student experience
External examiner reports are an important element in monitoring the academic standards and quality of the University’s provision. External examiners are required to submit an annual report using the approved University External Examiner report form template.
