Following your appointment the School will send you programme specific information which may include:
- Student handbook (programme information given to students – format may vary)
- Programme regulations
- An outline of each module
- Assessment briefs/marking criteria
- Draft examination papers
- Policies, procedures and regulations concerning the structure and administration of examining and awarding boards
- QAA subject benchmarks (where relevant)
The Deputy Head of School (Education) or their nominee will provide information on local arrangements during a meeting with you (this may be conducted by Skype if you are unable to visit the University at the start of your appointment). The meeting may also include other representatives of the Faculty, for example the Director of Programmes, Faculty Academic Registrar, Assessments Team Leader and members of the programme team.
The School level induction will include any additional information and support which you may require to effectively fulfil your role. For example, arrangements for mentoring or shadowing for newly appointed external examiners without previous external examining experience.
