Dr. Vasilis Strogilos was invited by the Department for Education, in February 2025, to participate in a roundtable event focusing on research into school approaches to inclusive education for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The roundtable brought together a select group of researchers and experts to develop an evidence-based understanding of how mainstream schools can be more inclusive for students with SEND. Dr. Strogilos shared key findings from his research on resourced provision & Resourced provision toolkit. He also emphasized the urgent need for research into the challenges parents face in securing appropriate provision for their children. Parents of children with SEND have increasingly voiced concerns through complaints and appeals, highlighting a wider SEND crisis. Dr. Strogilos stressed that research must address these issues and work collaboratively with families to develop meaningful solutions.
