Dr Andrew Power is currently PI on a 2 year ESRC funded project: ‘Self build Social Care’. This is a collaboration between geographers at Universities of Southampton (AP and Dr Hannah Macpherson) and Dundee, Education (Prof. Melanie Nind) and adults with learning disabilities in our local communities. We are examining how individuals with learning disabilities, with the support of allies including family, peers, friends and neighbours, are navigating current landscapes of care services in times of austerity and personalised support. It is focusing on a rural and urban area in southern England and the same in Scotland.
