As the year comes to a close, final year students no longer have the luxury of  enjoying the holidays stress free. Instead most of your time will be spent studying for the January exams and working on the GDP as well as applying for jobs post-graduation.

I want to draw your attention to the latter. Generally, it is recommended to have different CVs and cover letters tailored to each different sector you are aiming for. For example, you write a CV specifying the IT experiences and skills you have if you are applying to a technology based job, or if you’re applying for a marketing position you mention your work experience and positions you’ve held. Then after you perform some research on the company to are applying to, you can tailor your CV and cover letter to that specific company, no company likes to be likened to a generic company, generally speaking.

Personally, I feel like applying to job vacancies early is more important. Some jobs are somewhat similar to a first come first served basis. I have missed several opportunities because I had chosen to rewrite my CV and finding out later that the position was already offered to another applicant. Not forgetting to mention that the earlier you apply, the quicker you can undergo the questionnaires and interviews, then get back to studying for the January exam.

Time is Precious.
