The visualiser or Video OHP is a stand with a video camera and lights; anything placed under it can be shown on the room’s projection screen. It is typically used as an alternative to a whiteboard (e.g. for writing equations or drawing diagrams) or to show books, journal articles or 3D objects.
There are several types in use, and we recommend you spend a few minutes practicing before you use them to teach. The basic mode of operation is:
- Raise the camera head from its folded position by pulling the handle on its arm upwards.
- Press Vid OHP on the touch-screen control panel to switch on the visualiser.
- If it did not switch on automatically, press its Power button to switch it on.
- The control panel enables you to control the zoom and focus, and to switch its lights on or off.
- The visualiser will automatically switch off when you select a different video source (e.g. PC or laptop).
- Please return the visualiser to its folded position by gently pulling on the handle on its arm.
If you are using Panopto to record your session, note that in some rooms you can select the visualiser as an additional video source so that whatever you write, draw or show using it is also recorded.
