Introduction to the city of Xiamen
Tour of the Campus
During the introduction, we know that Xiamen is a beautiful harbour city, which is isolated in the Southeast of Fujian Province. The local people are very friendly to the travellers from other places. There are lots of amazing museums and galleries in Xiamen, and the most popular one would be Gulangyu Island. It is a small island with fantastic landscapes. A number of nice shops and western old buildings which always attract many travellers to visit, even though they have to go by ship.
The weather in Xiamen is good, but it might be too hot for foreign visitors. Even though people here all speak Hokkien, they also speak good Mandarin and English to give warm welcome to others from all over the world.
On our campus tour, we are given an insight into what life is like at this campus and we were shocked by the size of the playground. The campus is a lot bigger in size than ours in Southampton. It took a lot longer to walk from one side to the other, that’s for sure. Not only that but the lecture theatres are much taller so they can accommodate more people, and there are numerous different kinds of plants. Mango trees line the pavements, meaning that matured mangos regularly fall to the ground, looking so juicy and tasty.
We also see lots of people graduating, wearing their graduation robes, and everybody looks happy and they are accompanied by their parents and relatives, they all seem so proud of themselves.
Besides, the roads on campus areso busy, tourists and students keeping coming and leaving, and the majority of the female we passed were walking
with umbrellas to protect them from the sun as they do not want to get tanned because they think white is more beautiful which is the cultural difference.
I reckon that Xiamen city is a pleasant city to live and Xiamen University is indeed the most the beautiful campus in China.
