Darja is the Principal Investigator of the WORKANDHOME project. She is Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Southampton. The focus of her research is the neglected relationship between homelife and worklife and how it is mediated by place and space. Darja has investigated this in relation to self-employment and home-based working; housing and the built environment and migration and new mobilities.

Andrea leads the department ‘Urban Regions’ in the ILS – Research Institute for Regional and Urban Development in Dortmund (Germany). Andrea’s research focusses on the role of home-based self-employment in employment careers and how biographical changes influence home-based self-employment.

Frank is a senior researcher at the ILS – Research Institute for Regional and Urban Development in Dortmund (Germany). He is a planner by background. Frank’s research focusses on residential choices of home-based self-employed people as well as on the relationship between changes in work organisation and spatial development.

Veronique is associate professor in Economic Geography at the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning at Utrecht University, the Netherlands and holds the special chair of Ethnic Entrepreneurship at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her research interests and activities cover regional variations in entrepreneurial activity and attitude; new firm growth, survival and performance of firms and the development of (spatial) strategies during the firm life course; formal and informal entrepreneurial and firm networks; social entrepreneurship; and the neighbourhood economy.

Anahid is a research fellow in the WORKANDHOME project based in the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Southampton. Her area of interest includes geospatial data mining, spatio-temporal data analysis and understanding how humans interact with the environment based on their movement and social media activities. Her research focuses on the changing time-space patterns of workers, neighbourhoods and cities.

Markieta is a research fellow in the WORKANDHOME project based in the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Southampton. She has a background in the sociology of work and qualitative methodology. Markieta’s research focuses on home-based businesses with employees: their growth and work relations.

Annabelle is a research fellow on the WORKANDHOME project based in the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Southampton. Her background is in human geography, and is interested in relationships between home, work and mobility. Annabelle’s research focuses on networks of home-based coworking, meanings and practices of home for home-based self-employed people and the importance of social media for home-based self-employment.

 

Cornelia Tippel

Cornelia is a research fellow in the WORKANDHOME project based at the ILS – Research Institute for Regional and Urban Development in Dortmund (Germany). She is finishing her PhD in spatial planning at the TU Dortmund University. Cornelia’s research focusses on the social and economic motivations for becoming home-based self-employed, social and local embeddedness of home-based self-employed people and transitions of home-working spaces in relation to work and life.
