I remember that feeling (albeit a long time ago) when you knew you were going back to University after a lovely long summer break, working, holidaying and eating parents out of house n home. I was so excited to see all my friends and living in my new student home. However I was always concerned that I may have lost my ability to study somewhere along the way!
So I thought I would share my top 5 reasons why it’s great to come back….
1) It’s a new academic year…………..a fresh start…………time to get the grades that you know you are capable of, especially if you felt you fell short last year. We all love new beginnings.
2) Another year closer to achieving your goals, aside from the social life, it is why we all go…..to achieve!!
3) Catching up with people you have not seen all summer, including those that you do not talk very often; the person who serves your coffee, the familiar face in lectures that you only say hi to. It feels like coming back to another family.
4) The self-achievement you only feel when you have handed in an assignment you’ve stayed up late to complete or passed an exam that you have studied so hard for.
5) The busy hub on campus at beginning of a new academic year, all the Fairs, Stalls, student union activities and people!
Tori and I are looking forward to you coming back too! We have been busy preparing for the October Careers Fairs. We have so many fantastic employers on board that we can’t wait for you to meet on 19th and 20th October!! We’re excited to confirm that some of these include:
Apple, BlackRock, Boeing, Cancer Research UK, Carnival, Deloitte Dyson, , Hampshire County Council, Jaguar Land Rover, Lidl, Oxfam, PwC and Rolls-Royce.
Even if it’s not on the top of your priority list, it’s never too early to think about life at the end of University and coming to the Careers Fairs, even if it is just for a wonder round, it all helps. They even have Placement opportunities that you could undertake at the end of your 2nd year!
Thank you for reading.
