us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The people involved in the\u00a0UoS<sup>3<\/sup> come from different backgrounds and organisations. \u00a0Currently those involved includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A senior lecturer<\/li>\n<li>PhD students<\/li>\n<li>Undergraduate, Masters level\u00a0students<\/li>\n<li>Southampton University Space Flight Society (SUSF)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The project is under the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/engineering\/research\/groups\/astro.page\">Astronautics Research Group<\/a> in the University and is overseen by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/engineering\/about\/staff\/art4.page\">Dr Adrian Tatnall<\/a> with help from Aleksander Lidtke and Clemens Rumpf, both PhD students.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to this two Masters level Group Design Projects \u2013 one from the Faculty of Engineering and Environment (FEE) and one from the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) \u2013 comprising of a total of 15 students are working on the design of the spacecraft.\u00a0 The Southampton University Space Flight Society (SUSF) are also involved, designing, building and maintaining the University of Southampton Ground Station.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Spacecraft are commonly\u00a0broken down into several different areas depending on their function, known as subsystems. \u00a0These can split into the <em>space segment<\/em>\u00a0and the <em>ground segment<\/em>. \u00a0The ground segment includes in the groundstation to communicate with and downlink payload data from the spacecraft. \u00a0The space
