The IEREST Project (Intercultural Education Resources for Erasmus Students and their Teachers) is an Erasmus Multilateral Project (2012-2015) which aims at developing an Intercultural Path (a set of teaching modules) to be provided to Erasmus students before, during, and after their experience abroad.
The LANGSNAP project documented the development of advanced level students’ knowledge and use of L2 French or L2 Spanish over a 21-month period including a 9-month stay abroad. A repository has been created to promote research on the learning of French and Spanish as L2, by making parallel learner corpora for each language freely available to the research community.
The Learning and Residence Abroad (LARA) Project ran from 1997-2001. This ethnography programme was based on the idea that students will get the most out of their period of residence abroad if they take a leaf out of the anthropologists’ book and undertake an ethnographic project, developing language learners as ethnographers and offering a systematic and rigorous approach to cultural and intercultural learning.
The Interculture Project from Lancaster University ran in 1999. The website contains information and material that has been collected and developed by the project team over three years, related to the intercultural aspects of UK students’ experience of Residence Abroad in its broadest sense, and covering issues arising before, during and after the actual residence abroad.
