Young people aged 17 to 19 years
In this phase of the SWS, we are interested in learning about diet, physical activity and other health behaviours as well as experiences with education, social media, and relationships with friends and family, among people of your age. We invited some of the SWS young people to complete our survey, online or by post, when they were aged 17 to 19 years of age.
Recruitment to the study is now complete and we will soon be analysing the data.
Experiences of COVID-19 for mothers and young people
The COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges to many. The effects included those of the threat of the virus itself as well as the impact of the government-imposed lockdown on health and wellbeing. The Southampton Women’s Survey provides an opportunity to understand the effects of the lockdown on a group of mothers and their offspring who have been studied in the past to understand how circumstances earlier in life (including pre-pregnancy) influenced people’s health and wellbeing during the pandemic. Over 650 mothers and nearly 300 offspring answered an online questionnaire between February and July 2021. Analyses are ongoing to explore this rich resource of data.
