\"University<\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

The University of Southampton has cemented its position as a world-leading educator in three recent university rankings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

In the 2017 Guardian University Guide<\/i> released in May, the University placed joint 16th overall and joint 10th for Russell Group institutions. The University also achieved the number one ranking for Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the Guardian<\/i> subject tables, with 14 other subjects also scoring a top 10 place.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the latest Complete University Guide (CUG) 2017, the University of Southampton is ranked 17th, coming in at 11 among Russell Group universities. In addition, the CUG also placed 18 of our courses within the top 10 for their subject areas.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Guide analyses a wide range of criteria \u2013 including UCAS tariffs, student satisfaction, research excellence and intensity, graduate prospects and student-staff ratio \u2013 to determine rankings. In the QS World Rankings by Subject, released in March 2016, the University placed five subjects in the top 45.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nursing is ranked 14th in the world, with archaeology 27th and Earth and marine sciences 28th. Geography was placed at 41, with performing arts following closely at 43.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These results have been strongly driven by the University\u2019s improved academic reputation, leading to our best ever performance in the QS subject rankings. Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, President and Vice-Chancellor, said: <\/span><\/p>\n

These results in the QS World Rankings by Subject recognise Southampton\u2019s excellence across a wide range of areas where the University has established an international reputation. Perhaps most importantly, these rankings reflect our impact as a University in the eyes of our peers in industry and academia, which reinforces our reputation around the world.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
