The University’s campaign for the Centre for Cancer Immunology has become an official charity partner of the upcoming ABP Half Marathon to be held on 24th April 2016 in Southampton.
The run starts in the city centre and will pass local landmarks such as Bargate, the QE2 Anchor and St Mary’s Stadium. The race is a great opportunity for first time half-marathon runners to test themselves, and there is plenty for spectators to do along the route. There is also an option to run a 10k race for anyone who fancies a slightly shorter, but still ambitious, challenge.
As a charity partner for the race, we have 20 spaces available for anyone who would like to run the half marathon on behalf of the campaign. As one of our first 20 campaign runners to gain a sponsored place, you’ll receive a t-shirt to wear on the day, encouragement and support from our team and your entry for the race paid for. In return we ask that each of our campaign runners raise at least £100 to support the campaign – all of which will go towards our fundraising goal for the new centre. If you aren’t able to gain a place through our partnership, or you are interested in running the 10k, we would still love for your to consider joining our team and fundraising on our behalf.
We are already over halfway to our goal to raise £25m to establish the UK’s first dedicated Centre for Cancer Immunology, building on Southampton’s world-leading research in this area.
