Patricia Gonzalez from Biological Sciences<\/p><\/div>\n

Wednesday 4th October 2017<\/p>\n

It is\u00a0the first week in October and it is\u00a0tradition to start our Southampton Neuroscience group seminars again. We made a few small changes and this year: \u00a0the neuroscience seminars will be every Wednesday from 16.00-17.00 and we have invited speakers across the faculties to cover the broad spectrum of neuroscience research\u00a0 in our University.<\/p>\n

We kicked off with a talk from Patricia Gonzalez<\/span><\/strong> from Biological Sciences. As\u00a0 one of the\u00a0poster prize winners\u00a0in the annual SoNG conference.,\u00a0it was only right to ask her to present her exciting work on Cholinergic pathways in c. elegans.\u00a0 Patricia convincingly showed how c elegans can be used as a model organism to study the function of the neuromuscular junction in the different muscles. Patricia\u00a0used emoticons\u00a0to explain how synapses can be trained with preconditioning. \"emojocon\"What a good idea! All in all a very nice talk!<\/p>\n

Patricia is a second year PhD student in Biological Sciences, supervised by Prof Lindy Holden Dye, Prof Vincent O’Connor, Christopher Green (DSTL) and John Tetterstall ( DSTL).<\/p>\n
