I felt it was wrong to throw them in the garbage as if &#8212; <i>as if they were just objects<\/i>. I became a vegetarian when I turned 17, and told my mother she could empty that drawer now. But it was only in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/channels\/event\/perspectives-animal-law-panel-experts-switzerland-canada-and-us-114889\">2012<\/a>, when I was 67, that I became a vegan and realized what I should be <i>doing<\/i> &#8212; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/ca\/blog\/animal-emotions\/201501\/doing-the-right-thing-interview-stevan-harnad\">what I should really have been doing, all along<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"AppleOriginalContents\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"AppleOriginalContents\">Anthropomorphism &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/vtdigger.org\/2019\/03\/08\/ywp-house-life\/\">natural in children<\/a> &#8212; is what makes humans humane.
