Part of the University of Southampton&#8217;s School of Electronics and Computer Science, we specialise in projects to enable take-up of novel IT, particularly by industry and commerce. We research, develop, architect, engineer and integrate innovative IT systems. We provide consultancy services and deliver strategies, road maps, proofs-of-concept, demonstrators and novel operational systems.<\/p>\n<p>IT Innovation specialises in distributed systems that use a range of technologies including: grid and service oriented architectures; data fusion, information retrieval and multimedia semantics; workflow and business processes; and security, trust and governance. We research and apply these technologies to solve complex problems in application sectors that include engineering, aerospace, life sciences, healthcare, retail, finance, environment and cultural heritage. IT Innovation has world-class expertise in Grids and Service Oriented Architectures, and has been involved in key European projects over the past decade.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.joanneum.at\/\" name=\"jrs\"><strong>JOANNEUM RESARCH<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 located in Graz, Austria \u2014 is a non-profit technology centre, concentrating on applied R&amp;D with a highly qualified staff of more than 400 people. Their service includes specifically geared development tasks for small- and medium-sized companies, complex interdisciplinary national and international research assignments as well as tailored techno-economic consulting. In SERSCIS the Institute of Information Systems &amp; Information Management participates; the staff members are experienced in setting up and running national competence centres, and numerous large international projects. Application areas range from security, traffic &amp; transport, cultural heritage to media analysis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.austrocontrol.at\/\" name=\"acg\"><strong>AUSTRO CONTROL<\/strong><\/a> (\u00d6sterreichische Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Zivilluftfahrt mbH) is responsible for safety in Austrian air space &#8211; from engine start to the moment the aircraft leaves Austrian air space &#8211; our air traffic controllers, supported by today&#8217;s most modern technology, guide the aircraft to the right airway and make sure no other aircraft ever gets too close.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kemea.gr\" name=\"kemea\"><strong>KEMEA<\/strong><\/a>, The Center for Security Studies, has been established as the Greek Ministry\u2019s of Interior think tank on security policies. KEMEA is a scientific, consulting and research agency, whose purpose is to conduct theoretical and applied research and to produce studies, particularly at a strategic level, on issues concerning security policies. KEMEA also provides advisory and consulting services to the Ministry of Interior and other authorities on these same issues.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.puertogijon.es\/\" name=\"pag\"><strong>AUTORIDAD PORTUARIA DE GIJON<\/strong><\/a> is the public entity charged with the management of the port facilities bearing the same name located in Asturias. The Port of Gij\u00f3n is an excellent logistics platform for the companies in its hinterland, and the national leader in dry bulk traffic, servicing the most important industrial areas in the north of Spain. Situated on the Cantabric coast in northern Spain, the Port of Gij\u00f3n appears before Europe as the ideal gateway to the western half of the Iberian Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>Autoridad Portuaria de Gij\u00f3n has developed an intense activity related to European projects, reinforced in recent years, contributing a fundamental expertise and support to the development of this proposal.
